Les thématiques de recherche en photonique non-linéaire dans les fibres optiques ont été initiées au sein du groupe en 2008 par Alexandre KUDLINSKI et Arnaud MUSSOT. Après s’être intéressées à la génération de supercontinuum, les activités de recherche au sein de cet axe se sont progressivement diversifiées et tournent aujourd’hui autour des processus paramétriques et des solitons temporels, tant sur le plan de la compréhension fondamentale que sur celui des applications. L’une des originalités des travaux repose sur l’exploitation de fibres dites « topographiques », dont les propriétés de guidage varient de façon contrôlée dans la direction de propagation de la lumière.
