PARITY - EQUALITY

A dedicated equality committee

In line with the CNRS 2024–2026 action plan in support of gender equality, PhLAM established in 2023 a Gender Parity, Equality and Prevention of Sexual and Sexist Violence Unit, led by W. Kolnierzak and V. Vallet, and officially recognised by CNRS Physics and the University of Lille.

This unit's mission is to:

  • disseminate available tools and information,
  • raise awareness among all staff,
  • encourage participation in training sessions and webinars on these issues.

Awareness campaigns are already in place within the laboratory to foster a collective understanding of these matters.

Inspiring the next generations

Highlighting women in physics also means inspiring young people to pursue careers in science. Several initiatives are aimed at secondary school pupils, such as the Night of Sciences (D. Hennequin) and the Year of Physics (S. Bailleux).

Engagement through networks

PhLAM works in close collaboration with:

  • the CNRS Mission for the Place of Women,
  • the Gender Equality Officer of the University of Lille,
  • the "Women and Physics" Committee of the French Physical Society (SFP).
