It’s a rare occurrence worth highlighting: an article blending art and science has just been published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal.

When molecular science ventures beyond its traditional boundaries to engage with contemporary art, it gives rise to xSublimatio—a project at the crossroads of artistic and scientific exploration. Initiated by Christophe Biot, Pierre Pauze, Corentin Spiret, and Marie Hinnebo, the project translates molecular data into visual and emotional experiences.

This is a truly interdisciplinary endeavor, bringing together chemists, biologists, and digital artists. Noémie Gouspillou and Emmanuel Courtade, researchers from the PhLAM laboratory, contributed their scientific expertise to the project. Their input focused on methodological discussions surrounding the integration of blockchain technologies, artificial intelligence models such as AlphaFold, and novel approaches to chemical representation—all within a framework that bridges art and science.
