C²EMPI Annual Conference

A look back at the C²EMPI annual event, which took place on 30 April 2026.

On Thursday 30 April 2026, the PhLAM laboratory organised the first annual CDP C²EMPI conference at LILLIAD, bringing together nearly 90 participants from Lille’s research community.

The event highlighted the key themes at the heart of the C²EMPI project, at the interface of mathematics, physics and nanotechnology. Researchers, lecturers, postdoctoral researchers and students involved in the project’s research areas were able to discuss work focusing in particular on quantum physics, optics, metamaterials and ultra-fast information processing.

Beyond the scientific presentations, this meeting also fostered exchanges between research communities and the emergence of new interdisciplinary collaborations.

Led by the University of Lille, the C²EMPI project (Complexity in the physical world and Emergent Mathematical tools, for Progress and Innovation) brings together 230 researchers, lecturers and engineers from four laboratories: IEMN, PhLAM, the Paul Painlevé Laboratory and CRIStAL. Together, they are working towards a common goal: to better understand and control complex systems, where multiple interactions, disorder and vast amounts of data make predictions particularly difficult.

The PhLAM laboratory would like to thank all the speakers and participants for their contribution to the success of this first edition.
