Some recent works resulting from a collaboration between members of the DYSCO team and hydrodynamic researchers are the subject of an INSIS news.

Rogue waves are born from random waves:
"Real walls of water seeming to come out of nowhere, rogue waves suddenly appear and exceed the height of their neighbors. A theoretical model exists and has already been reproduced in the laboratory, but requires very specific conditions. Researchers from the CNRS, from the École centrale de Nantes and the universities of Paris and Lille have shown experimentally that a set of random waves can also cause the formation of rogue waves. Published in the journal Physical Review Fluids, this work extends the previously available models."
