Who are we?
PhLAM, Laboratory of Physics of Lasers, Atoms and Molecules, is a mixed research unit (UMR 8523) directed by Cristian FOCSA, under the dual supervision of the CNRS and the University of Lille.
The research teams
The research themes of PhLAM are mainly oriented towards the light-matter interaction through 5 major axes:
- Laser Cooled Atom Physics (Cold Atoms),
- Dynamics of Complex Systems (DYSCO),
- Physical Chemistry Modelling Team (PCMT),
- Photonics,
- Molecular Physics at Interfaces (MPI).
Its activities have a very strong experimental component, the evolution of which requires a support increasingly supported at the level of modeling.
The interest of his research is fundamental physics with a constant concern to exploit the applications. The laboratory relies on the basics of basic research to develop innovative technological applications with a high societal impact, through valuable industrial partnerships, particularly with regional companies.
This balance between basic and applied research has become the hallmark of the laboratory.
